Crossing the border into San Pedro de Atacama, Chile took a lot longer then our previous crossing into Bolivia. When transferring into our bus from our truck and saying goodbye to Miguel, he warned us of taking any plants, fruit or marijuana over the border. Jake handed the last of his cocoa over to Miguel and we finished our apples. Stepping inside a warm bus with no cracked screens it was immediately obvious we were in a more well-off country. Five minutes into our drive and we were on the smoothest sealed road we had been on in over a month. It was sad saying goodbye to Bolivia but I was enjoying a bus ride for the first time. Driving down the slopes of the Andes we got a great view of San Pedro and the surrounding desert. The clear sky meant we could also see the far stretching mountains which divide Chile from Bolivia and Argentina.
